Actress 19-30 wanted for Social Distance, safe, short shoot.

Pay $200 to $300, depending on your look and experience.  Plus a demo reel and IMDB credit. A way to keep from getting rusty. Ideal for beginner.  A 3-4 hour shoot. Conversational, reality style.

Filmmakers can look below and see how to shoot while keeping everyone safe from Covid 19.

First, about coronavirus safety. There will not be formal auditions. Instead, you can drop by, meeting me on my patio. We will sit a good distance apart and talk. You can do a bit of cold reading, and tell me about what you propose to talk about in improv. You will not come inside. It will be sort of an interview audition.

If you get cast for the role, we will arrange a shoot date and again meet only outside, and do the shoot. I see it all being done in about 3 hours.

This is meant to be farcical! That is the reason for the wig and sweater girl look. You will be creating a farcical character. It can be all made up, or it can be partly based on your real life. But always remember, it is a farce, or maybe partly farce. A chance to be creative and have fun.
The shoot will be on my patio, shown here. Imagine it set up nicely so it frames you, and makes you the centre of attention. We will always stay a good distance apart.

The movie will be reality style. The story of an actress and her career during the Covid 19 crisis. It is your chance to show what you can do. You create a character, or just be yourself. You can think of it as a one woman Fringe Festival type performance on camera.

It will be like a documentary in some places, where you tell about how Covid 19 is affecting your life. Share some stories about acting gigs or acting classes getting cancelled perhaps. Or stories about your job and if you got laid off.
Stories about isolating at home and how you are handling it. Mention any concerns or fears you have for yourself or family members.

This can vary a lot. It doesn't matter exactly what you talk about. The goal is to produce something which is entertaining and interesting. We can brainstorm lots of ideas, by email, and/or at your interview/audition.

You can tell a story, followed by a bit of script cold reading, then another story,
then more cold reading and so on. You can talk about any films you have been in, or any auditions you have done. You can sing a funny song I have written, but you don't have to. Remember, this is mostly farcical.

You can share what you think about the coronavirus, or your whole life philosopy. Anything you want! (almost.)

Audition information below. An outline of the movie with scene and story ideas is here.

To make it so it is not just a talking head movie, sometimes you can sit, and sometimes stand. Some will be close up, and some wider. The camera will be at different angles sometimes. There will also be a B camera on a tripod for a wide static shot. The B camera will be repositioned several times for variety. There will be cutaways to the B camera footage. It will be well shot.

What we want to end up with is some interesting footage that can be made into an entertaining, saleable video, about 50 to 65 minutes long.

An example is here on Amazon Prime.

You will be part of my Sweater Girls series of movies. For details on two sweater girl movies, look here, You will probably wear the same Marilyn Monroe wig which you will see. You will wear a pointy bra like the other actresses. What IS a sweater girl? Find that out there too.
(I will show you how to make a pointy bra at your audition/interview).

It will be put up for sale on Amazon Prime Video and possibly other platforms. I don't know if it will sell. I will be doing a lot of work editing, and I have to pay $1.25 USD per minute for closed captions. I am doing it because I am tired of sitting at home by myself, and I want to do something creative and fun. Also, I might find the actress I want for some "real movies" which you can find by starting on my homepage. There will be more pay for those movies.

I realize the pay is low, but it is all I can afford at this time. I want to find someone who thinks ahead to the future. This crisis will end someday.
Ideas for filmmakers on how to shoot with social distancing.

1. Use a crew of just one or two.

2. Only shoot scenes with one or two characters.

3. Us spacious locations, such as patios, back lanes, small parks, parking lots, quiet streets or large rooms with plenty of space.

4. Remove as much furniture as possible to make extra space.

5. Completely avoid situations where two people have to squeeze by each other to move to another spot.

6. Set your camera back farther.

7. Make blocking simple and avoid complex shots to minimize retakes.

8. If small dialogue mistakes are made, let it go. Shoot some of it improv.

9. Have a container handy with a bleach solution in it. Have a water rinse container adjacent. Encourage everyone to wash, rinse and dry their hands frequently.

10. Wipe down surfaces with the bleach solution frequently.

11. Make shoots quite short. If people get tired, they start to slack off on safety precautions. You might too.

Many more tips for filmmakers on this page with a free, life changing long video.

Social Distancing and all other safety precautions will  be used during shoot.

"Safer than going to Safeway"
UPDATE MAY 28th. This project has been shot and is in post production now.

I will be shooting another somewhat similar movie soon!

Looking for another sweater girl character, and a bikini girl character. You chat together. Very limited memorization!
You create your own characters!

All outdoors, lots of it at the beach. Pay TBA.

The photo here is a freeze frame, from the movie. (The movie will be a bit lighter. You will look great!)

If you want lots of screen time, the experience, and an IMDB credit, this could be for you. I have not officially begun casting yet, but if you are keen you can apply now.

I suggest you first read all of this page, and the "scene, story" page first, to get an idea of how this will be shot.

This page will be archived in due course. Below is what applicants responded to for our recent shoot.

Audition information. Date, soon. (Weather dependant.)  Get the date from me or Mishal. Location, the patio at 1898 Balsam St,  3rd Avenue and Balsam in Kitsilano. Time, starting at 2:45 PM. Each applicant will get 15 to 20 minutes. Your arrival time will be sent to you. Social distancing at all times. You will cold read 2 pages from a comedy script. You will sing a funny song from a comedy script. Bad singing welcome! This is a comical farce! You will tell a 2 or 3 minute interesting and entertaining story that you will prepare beforehand. (See movie outline here for story ideas.) We will brainstorm for 5 minutes for your character and story ideas for you.

You are encouraged to dress in character as a sweater girl. You can search the net for ideas. You might wear a tight sweater, a 50's hair style, a skirt which can be short, shorts, or hot shorts. You can get ideas from the two sweater girl movies which you can find on this site. Be creative, be memorable, be loveable. Maybe some kind of prop too.

Your audition will be fun! And safe. 8 to 10 feet apart.

After everyone has auditioned, we will make our decision within
about 15 minutes. Applicants can just walk around the hood for a few minutes and wait to be called. Whoever is picked for the role, can come back at that time, and she will be shown how to make a bra pointy, and given a pointy bra kit to take home! She could also be given a sweater or two to take home to modify and make tight. If called back, a face mask will be good to have as we may be slightly closer during the wardrobe aspects. 6 feet apart.

We shoot a few days later, depending on the availability of all of us, and the weather. It will definitely be ASAP! You get paid a day or so later, after all footage is checked. Payment will be by interac to your bank.

Hand wipes and hand sanitizer will be provided.

If it looks like rain, call me or Mishal about noon.
